The Dominican Center for Women offers free tutoring for neighborhood adults who dream of learning or improving their basic skills or are working toward their GED. Tutors are needed to work one-on-one with students, guiding, encouraging, and supporting them through their lessons. If you can spare a few hours a week for a truly rewarding experience, please call Sr. Sue Felice at (414) 444-9930. The Dominican Center is located at 2470 W. Locust St. in Milwaukee.
More than 100,000 adults in Milwaukee cannot read. Literacy Services helps motivated adults with one to one tutoring in basic reading, ESL and GED sessions. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is here to help. Our pregnancy support coordinators provide services to anyone experiencing unplanned or crisis pregnancies. Services include linking clients to community services such as WIC and Title-19, helping develop parenting plans, and providing education regarding adoption. We also license infant foster homes. Catholic Charities works with individuals of all races/ethnicities, religions, income, and education levels. Pregnancy Support Services are free of charge. Catholic Charities’ Adoption Program consists of domestic, step-parent, relative, and occasionally special needs adoptions. Adoption fees are based on services received.
